Porringer Top Tea Table
|
This Queen Anne style Porringer Top Tea Table/Side Table is an 18th century antique reproduction. The table was most likely named for it's rounded corners. These corners were thought to resemble porridge or porringer bowls, as this table was also used as a breakfast table. Small tables such as the Porringer Table were portable and served many purposes. This piece displays a beautiful rectangular top with porridge-bowl-like corners, that may have been described as scalloped in the eighteenth century, accentuated by the shaped apron sides that are met by the graceful cabriole legs with pad feet. Traditionally constructed with figured maple, this museum quality antique reproduction is hand made and finished from highly figured American Tiger Maple, Cherry, Poplar and painted base styles. Just as in years past the Porringer Top Tea Tables small size and portability makes it a very useful yet beautiful addition to any décor.
