The characteristics in design of this chest-of-drawers can be attributede to the Goddards and Townsends of Newport, Rhode Island, circa 1760-1780. This block and three-shell chest with scroll carved ogee bracket feet is considered by many to be the Best in form of American furniture from the master craftmen of Newport. Some accessories to consider are the European Bracket-Shelf Clock, Shelf Clock, Skeleton Clock, Fretwork Mirror, Apple tea caddy, Pear tea container or Bombay Tea Caddies.
