The Block-front
form of furniture is unique to America. Affluent New England families considered the block-front
bureau, chest, and desk
as the “Hall of Fame” of
American furniture. It is evident that the original of this block-front chest was created
by a master craftsman around 1760-1780. This Boston Block Front bureau antique furniture
reproduction, features an ogee molded top with four bold blocked front graduated drawers
and willow brasses. Bold, convex and concave blocking follows through the base molding
and is evident on the bracket feet with spurred inner outlines. The Chippendale Block
Front Bureau ~ Boston antique replica is hand made and finished from solid Honduran Mahogany.
