Mirrors were once a sign of wealth and prestige. This is a fine example of a fretwork mirror. The Romans were the first known to use mirrored glass for reflective uses, in the late fourth century A.D. The bonding of quicksilver and tin onto glass was first used for mirrors about 1314, in Venice, Italy.
